My family owned a Lhasa-Apso Shitzu mix who died from congenital kidney failure at a very young age. It turns out that shivering can, in many breeds of dog, be a symptom of a congenital problem like this one. If it seems abnormal for the dog to be shivering, I would recommend getting it checked by a vet - just to see - and that way you'll know for sure that it's not something more serious if it continues.
