It was unusually chilly this morning in Thousand Oaks when we went out for a walk. Odie knows that it’s time for the morning walk when I grab a poop bag from the kitchen instead of a coffee refill.
We headed outside and immediately returned for the warmth of the house. We were both shivering and I required a heavy jacket and Odie a pet sweater to keep him warm.
After that, the thirty degree weather had no effect on us and we continued our brisk walk. Sometimes short-haired dachshunds have advantages since they get to wear a nice looking sweater once in a while.
The patches of ice reminded to keep careful and not to start jogging to get our blood flowing. But at least we warm with a extra layer of clothing.
The girls didn’t need a sweater this morning due to the fact that they have a lot of fur and we only dress them up when they go to the snow.

Last week it’s was cold in Thousand Oaks, and Odie needed a new coat. He’s was shivering in the morning basically because he’s been sleeping under the warm covers.
During the day he usually sleeps under his blankie keeping warm during the cold day when the heat is turned off.
His favorite blankie is also Chloe’s favorite for “burying her ball.” She usually ends up tearing holes in the blanket or anything else she tries to bury underneath it. (This is good since now our son picks up his clothes to prevent the holes Chloe puts in it.)
Last Friday, Odie couldn’t wait for us to put on his hoodie, so he decided to make a Doxie Capote out of his blanket. My wife got home that night only to find Odie with his head and a leg poking thru the hole Chloe chewed in the blanket.
Who knows how long he was like that. We are very fortunate Odie did not hurt himself.
Bad dog Chloe! Bad Daddy, you need to train Chloe better.

I found an interesting shop on Etsy (Annie’s Sweatshop) where you can get custom clothing and handmade items for your Daschund. I especially like her Hound Hoodie Sweatshirts.
Annie is
“an artist who makes smart, functional, and eco-friendly notions. My DIY (Do It Yourself) passion, environmental ethic, and sewing skills led to this path. Although I do work long hours and for seemingly low wages, do not be alarmed by the “sweatshop” moniker. It is a term of endearment that captures my current predicament as a recent Buffalo, NY transplant soaking up the Georgia sun with my two mini-dachshunds, Porter and Stout.”

Odie is always cold and constantly buries himself under his favorite blanket. Being a shorthaired Dachshund, he could use a warm coat during the cooler months. I really think that he would look good in Sweet Dream Pajamas or a Nordic Sweater.
