Planning to Take Our Dachshunds RVing…

4/15/2006
By: Dachshund Lover

Someday if my wife would ever let me get a RV, we could take all three Dachshunds on vacation with us. Here’s the first Website I would visit to find some Dachshund friendly campgrounds:
RV enthusiasts who travel with dogs have a new online resource in RVingWithDogs.com. The Website includes daily commentary by editors Julee [...]

Dachshund Tripod

By: Dachshund Lover

Dachshunds are very resilient dogs. I’m reminded of this every time Odie lifts his hind leg to pee. Something so common to a male dog brings tears to my eyes only thinking that 7 months ago Odie was paralyzed and could not walk.
The three-legged stance is a testimony to his courage, strength and recovery from [...]

I forgot to set my Dachshund Alarm Clock Today

2/5/2006
By: Dachshund Lover

Everyday Odie promptly gets me up at 5:00 AM. So promptly that I don’t use an alarm clock anymore. For some reason he lets us sleep in on the weekends. Perhaps he knows that we’re going to spend the day with him so he takes his time waking up.

I don’t know why these two don’t like the rain and I usually get wet [...]

Yesterday, we took our Miniature Daschund Odie to see his Surgeon, Dr. Ian G. Holsworth for his three-month and final “after surgery” checkup. Odie, like all dogs like to “ride” and he was very happy to get into the car, but as soon as we got onto the freeway, Odie knew that we weren’t [...]

Molly the Miniature Dachshund Celebrates One

11/17/2005
By: Dachshund Lover

Molly the Mini is out of her terrible zeros and finally made it to one! That is, today is Molly’s birthday. Molly promptly got us up at 6:00 AM and of course we waited one minute too late and she initiated the floor with the hot stuff you just like to step into.
I [...]

Day 11: Ruptured Disk Recovery Day 8

8/30/2005
By: Dachshund Lover

Odie is learning how to walk and I am learning how to walk him. The belly swing is used to help relieve pressure on his spine and to give him extra balance. With male dogs you need to make sure that it doesn’t cover his wiener. Unfortunately, this is exactly what happened [...]

The Right Leash and Collar for Your Dog

7/5/2005
By: Dachshund Lover

In the past, when people spoke of training collars, they really generally were referring to “choke chains.” A choke chain is a metal chain with a sliding ring that is attached to your dog’s nylon or leather leash.
There’s a reason it’s called a choke chain. Because there is no limit on [...]
